Obtaining DFS Space

We suggest using DFS space instead of the U drive because it is easily accessible with any computer that has a DFS client.

  1. To do so, go to www.work.psu.edu/samba.

  2. Click on Access to the PASS Gateway and type in your PSU access id and password.

  3. The screen should say that that access to the DFS/Samba gateway has been enabled.

  4. To access the DFS space, select My computer and there should be a DFS folder.

  5. Double click that and then select users, and then select the letters accordingly to your PSU id.

DFS -> USERS -> X -> Y -> XYZ123 Where X is the your first initial, Y your middle initial and 123 the numbers in your PSU id.

  6. DFS space is not necessary, but it is very convenient to store files on this network and removes the hassle of FTP and using disks.
