LION-XC PC Cluster

LION-XC is a PC Cluster run by the High Performance Computing Group of Penn State's Academic Services and Emerging Technologies (ASET) in partnership with several faculty research groups yet to be finalized.

Hardware

LION-XC consists of the following hardware:

1 Login Node
  • IBM x3550 1U Rackmount Server
  • Dual 3.0 GHz Intel Xeon 3160 (Woodcrest) Dual-Core Processors
  • 8 GB of ECC RAM
64 Compute Nodes
  • IBM x3550 1U Rackmount Server
  • Dual 3.0 GHz Intel Xeon 3160 (Woodcrest) Dual-Core Processors
  • 8 GB of ECC RAM
64 Compute Nodes
  • Dell PowerEdge 1950 1U Rackmount Server

Obtaining an Account

To obtain an account on LION-XC you first need to be sure that you have a Penn State Access Account. If you do not, you will need to work with the ITS Accounts Services group to get one.

If you have a Penn State Access Account already, send an email to Jason Holmes at jholmes@psu.edu requesting your LION-XC account. Please be sure to include your Penn State Access Account userid and any special requests you may have.

Please refer to the LION-XC User's Guide for more information on accessing LION-XC and compiling and running applications on it.
